LIVE ACTION FILM DIRECTION & VIDEO PRODUCTION
I didn't start out to become a film director/producer, video editor, or videographer. However, as a great motion graphics designer needs to be a strong graphic designer first, the same can be said for a 3D designer/visualizer/VFX artist; you first need to understand cameras, lenses, and lighting. With this in mind, it wasn't a big leap for me to rise to the occasion and step out of my comfort zone.
Now, I find myself confidently producing and directing shoots working with a larger crew. Or, thriving in the role of a one-man-camera crew, adept at capturing compelling B-roll and recording engaging Vox pops, especially in dynamic environments like trade shows.
My ability to storyboard does help streamline production, however, where I get to really unleash my more artistic and cinematic videography skills is capturing the b-roll, this cannot be planned and requires an instinctive response to the environment.
